Busy, Busy, busy…

Hi everyone, welcome back :)

This week started off busy, making United Sim Team liveries for 3 different platforms. I really enjoy doing this as I have self-taught myself the skills necessary to apply our color schemes onto the cars in a way that looks well done and professional, no doubt as I continue to grow and learn more these liveries will become even better. For Assetto Corsa Competizione we have the ‘infamous’ Bernadette aka the Bentley, a personal favourite of Yvonne and I’m sure she is extremely happy to be back behind the wheel of Bernadette. On iracing, we had the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota GR86 that would be used in the ROAR before the 24, a race dedicated to GT4 cars and lower at Daytona Road, 2.4hrs a week before the official 24hrs of Daytona in which we will be running the Audi R8 LMS GT3, also the Mazda MX5 Cup car was done for Yvonne in preparation for an upcoming Global Event that will see her up against some of the very best worldwide. Last and by no means least we have Gran Turismo 7, the VW Scirocco GT4, and the Ford Cosworth RS both received the United Sim Team Treatment.

Tuesday evening was very special for Yvonne and me as we went indoor skiing, it was special because it was the first time in many years Yvonne has been able to ski upright instead of sitting thanks to the Mojo ski. For me it was my first time on ski’s on actual snow, the only time I have on skis was on a dry slope when I was about 8 years old, as a teenager I snowboarded semi-regular so Tuesday evening was a little swearing in the beginning and then much happier as I remembered how to balance the more runs I did, fingers crossed I can improve a little more for our ski holiday next week, my first ever ski holiday and I’m soooo looking forward to it.

Now back to the racing and the reason you all are here lol.

It was a quiet week as I only had three races, first up was 90 minutes at Silverstone, Round two of the RPM Endurance series. This race didn’t quite go to plan, an average qualifying and then spinning all by myself on lap one put me right at the back of the field, it took me a few laps to catch the field back up and slowly and carefully made my way up to the top 30, once there I was behind Yvonne, unfortunately, as I tried to capitalize on the move a competitor made and failed on Yvonne I got taken out, again losing me positions, one to never quit though I carried on and gained a few places back, an average result but could have been so much better if not for my own stupidity and eagerness.

On Saturday we had the RCI Endurance World Challenger's final race, 12hrs at Indianapolis. It was certainly a challenge indeed as we have had rotten luck in this series, and the last round was no exception. Sara Dove put the car in the mid-pack in qualifying and had a great few first stints with Sarah Johnson to bring the car in contention for a podium, with the weather constantly changing it made it difficult to know which tire to be on and the race ebbed and flowed until around halfway through when one of our drivers game crashed. We quickly rejoined and lost a few laps but as our Lead driver didn’t have the right race set up to load in we slowly fell backward and finished P16 (P12 in class, so we still scored 1 point) and the last of the cars running.

And last but not least we have the VRS Endurance at Daytona on iracing. Due to the other races, we could only do the last time slot so it was a one-shot kind of deal and I totally messed it up for us. Qualifying mid-pack I started the race and it was going okay, I had a good pace and was making places back up, unfortunately, I got too greedy with the exit kerb coming out of the bus stop which unsettled the car and sent me head first into the barrier, although the car was still driveable we lacked too much top end so I had to come into the pits for repairs. Once in the pits, we found out I 8 minutes of optionals so we decided to repair half of it and then go back out. Being 3 laps down after the repairs I was constantly under blue flags but kept on going, it actually went okay and still had good speed with all the damage, but then at the bus stop again I got caught out by a pack of cars slowing up for a backmarker and ploughed into the back of someone, breaking our car yet again. Thirteen minutes of repairs later and Yvonne took the car out and drove 2 stints equalling 2 hrs, there was no way I was going to mess it up further. In the end, we finished a disappointing 42nd and both lost a lot of irating. Fingers crossed my run of bad luck stops and we can get some good results.

This week I have three races (but there may end up being more), Monday Evening will be on GT7, Tuesday I will be racing in Althea’s new series Banana Boffins in Bernadette, and on Wednesday will be Round three of the RPM series at Daytona.

See you all again soon
